CCF team visits Philip Bentum at hospital

"Philip Bentum Turkson has been bedridden for 6yrs after he was knocked down by a hit and run driver. Though the driver was later apprehended and jailed 18 months for his inability to pay the fine imposed on him by the court, Bentum is dying slowly with a fractured spine without insurance or any kind of support to give him some ray of hope.
His frail looking mum tells me the driver has not visited her son after leaving prison. Sadly, when he was referred to Korle-Bu for emergency treatment on the day of the accident, characteristically, Bentum was turned away with the excuse that there is no bed. It appears many like our dying brother will continue to be turned away to die in a country whose managers appear to give prominence to unnecessary things. I just couldn't hold back my tears listening to Bentum narrate his ordeal to me after I paid him a visit with our CCF team at Pomadze in Winneba. Lets put a smile on the face of Bentum with the little we can afford."
