National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional Director of Elections, Yaw Asiedu has been killed in an accident Tuesday morning while on his way to Accra.
The accident occurred on the Winneba-Apam road in the Central region at about 8am Tuesday.
Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs confirmed this on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme.
He indicated that Yaw Asiedu, a lawyer, was travelling to Accra with collation sheets from last week’s general elections to the party’s headquarters when the accident occured.
The deceased who is in his late 30#;s was in the company of the NDC Regional Treasurer, Eric Essuah and a driver when the accident occurred.
Allotey Jacobs said the vehicle in which the three were travelling was found to have veered off the road, summersaulted several times after the front tyre burst leading to the crush.
"He is a hard working young man and I'm so shocked about his sudden demise. I'm hoping the treasurer survives, I can't lose him too" he bemoaned.
Meanwhile, his body has been deposited at the mortuary at Winneba Trauma Hospital. The two others are in serious condition and have been airlifted to Accra for further treatment.
