Credible information available to Kasapafmonline.com indicates that the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will deploy drones to monitor the December 7 general elections in the Volta Region.
This website, can say on authority that the NPP is introducing sophisticated technology to observe the polls in a region which remains a difficult ground for the party during elections, as it garners insignificant numbers of valid votes cast.
Highly placed sources in the NPP who spoke to Kasapafmonline.com under strict condition of anonymity say, the party has secured the services of a crack foreign technology firm to assist it in this regard as the party is leaving nothing to chance with its monitoring of this year’s elections.
The Director of Communications for the NPP, Nana Akomea speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show could not confirm or deny the intended use of the drones, except to tell host, Paul Adom Otchere that he’ll marvel if he (Nana Akomea) should tell him off-air, the sort of preparation that has been made to monitor the elections.
The NPP which challenged the results of the 2012 elections at the Supreme Court over several anomalies during that polls in a hearing that lasted about eight months, has served notice that it will be extra vigilant this time around as it will no longer resort to the courts to challenge the election results.
Ghana goes to the polls coming Wednesday in an election which political watchers say is crucial to the political ambitions of the two leading candidates, incumbent President John Mahama and NPP’s Nana Akufo Addo.
While, President John Mahama is striving not to be the first President to be kicked out of office after his first term under the Fourth Republic, Nana Akufo Addo is bent on winning the elections as this is most likely his third and final attempt at ascending to the Presidency.
