Togbe Afede elected President of national house of chiefs


Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State in Ho, Volta region has been elected as the president of the National House of Chiefs.
Togbe Afede, who was also the immediate past president of the Volta regional House of Chiefs takes over from the Wulugu Naba Pugansoa, Naa Professor John S. Nabila, whose term of office has ended.

Togbe Afede who is also the Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak garnered  25 votes in the election held in Kumasi on Thursday.

He beat the current Vice-President of the house, Awulae Attibrukusu III, the Omanhen of the Lower Axim Traditional Area who amassed 11 votes.
Other chiefs who contested in the election include Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin Okyenhene in the Eastern Region who won 10 votes and the Omanhen of Essikado Traditional Area Nana Kobina Nketsia V, also had 3 votes.
