Prostitutes: Mahama is putting monies in our pockets with the New Nkrumah flyover

Commercial sex workers who ply their trade around circle say they are cashing in on the new three-tier Kwame Nkrumah Interchange.

To them, they see the infrastructure as something that has added value to their services.

What is even bringing in more revenue is the newly constructed recreational facility also attached to the flyover and which has the statue of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah standing in the middle of a beautifully designed multi-coloured fountain.

One of the sex workers who only gave her name as Miriam when contacted told Kasapafmonline.com that her rates have increased following the commissioning of the project.

The base rate which used to be GH₵30.00 has been slightly increased to GH₵40.00 for short time while the full night now cost GH₵120.00, a GH₵20.00 increase from the previous price.

“For the past two days business has been good. The rates have slightly been increased but our clients are not complaining. Before, they used to complain a lot but with the commissioning of the flyover, they have stopped complaining. You know the place now looks beautiful and so we have to dress very well to match it and this I believe is doing the tricks for us. Mahama has really done well, he’s making us get more money,” she said.

Another sex worker who also gave her name as Afia told Kasapafmonline.com that she used to accept “anything” between GH₵25.00 and GH₵30.00 for short time and GH₵80.00 for full time but since Monday, November 14, 2016, she now accepts at least GH₵35.00 for short time and GH₵100.00 for full time.

Gifty, 25, who also plies her trade around the former Obra Spot on her part noted that although her rates have not been increased, she now gets more clients since the commissioning of the project.

“If you want to really see the beauty of the flyover and the recreational facility, come here in the evening. Since the commissioning, more people have been coming here in the evening and while here, some of them take advantage to satisfy their sexual desires and this is giving us more money. We really thank President Mahama for constructing this flyover, we’ll never forget what she’s done for us.” she noted.

She said since last Monday, she has been getting between five and seven clients a day all for short time services, compared to two and sometimes one in the previous days.

The facility, she said, is really “putting money in my pocket.”

President John Dramani Mahama in one of campaign tours pleaded with the people to give him another term in office, promising to put money in their pockets with the kind of projects he will be initiating in the next four years.

But before he is voted into power to begin another four-year term, commercial sex workers say they are already benefitting from his Nkrumah Circle flyover project he commissioned last Monday, November 14, 2016.
