E/R: Two die from gun shots, 10 sustain severe injuries in anti-galamsey swoop


Residents of Asaamanma in the Atiwa District of the Eastern region have discount police claims of two deaths recorded in the clashes between the security officers and residents believed to be illegal miners Thursday.
The deceased were reportedly shot in the abdomen gushing out their intestine. Several others have been injured and hospitalized.
According to the residents, about four to five persons have been gun down by the security and persons believe to be landguards .
They are pointing accusing fingers at one Kwaku Ayebiahwe, who owns a mining company in some parts of the region for being behind the attack on the community.
The residents say they were armless when the the team arrived. According to them, the security personnel and the land guards started beating residents to pulp and arrested some while others were shot.
However the Atiwa district Police Commander, DSP John Yeboah, tells the media that, only two deaths were recorded with 5 seriously injured and now on admission. He said however,investigations have been launched into the incident.
One of the victims, an Ewe Man with juju powers says he was shot at the abdomen but the bullet could not affect him.
