WE WILL ISSUE THE NATIONAL ID CARDS - BAWUMIA

The running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised the party will issue national identification card.

Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch on Sunday said the part will continue the good job of former President Kufuor.

“The opposition New Patriotic Party will issue the National Identification Cards in our first term of office, “he said.

The National Identification Authority was set up in 2003 under President John Agyekum Kufuor. With the mandate to issue national ID cards and manages the National Identification System (NIS).

This resulted in the passing of the National Identification authority act, 2006 (Act 707) to give it the necessary legal premises on which to operate. The National Identity Register Act, 2008 (Act 750) was also passed to give authorisation for privacy and personal information of enrolees.

   

Fortunately, the process of issuing national identification cards to Ghanaians came to hot after former President Kuffour and New patriotic Party has existed office in 2009.
