NPP TO ENGAGE IN POLITICS OF INSULTS IF .....MP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has threatened that the party will start engaging in politics of insults if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho does not stop attacking the party’s vice presidential candidate unnecessarily.

Koku Anyidoho while addressing a rally of NDC supporters in Kumasi on Saturday stated that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a dishonest politician who has made lying his stock in trade and should not be rewarded with the second highest office of the land.

He further described Dr Bawumia as “Mutum Banza”, a Hausa expression used to describe a worthless person. "Mutum Banza” means “a useless person” or “a nonentity.”

The description has not gone down well with sympathizers of the opposition party who have asked the leadership of the NDC and the National Peace Council (NPC) to call Koku ‘the bull’ to order.

However, Koku reacting to the calls for him to withdraw the statement said he has no regret over the usage of the words as according to him, the description fits "an incompetent liar like Dr Bawumia."

He claimed he was forced to attack the former deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana "since he has always been attacking the President with claims that he is incompetent."

“The incompetent word he uses on President is also an insult…and its okay for Bawumia to insult the President of the land; then it is also okay for me to also refer to him as Mutum Banza….Bawumia will not determine my choice of words and that is the words (sic) I am choosing to use on him…,” he said.

These comments by Koku Anyidoho, the NPP Legislator addressing party supporters at the campaign launch of an NPP Parliamentary Candidate in Tamale, Ibrahim Anyass said would force the NPP to also start personal attacks on leading members of the NDC.

“Koku Anhyidoho, I can assure you that we would come at you in similar fashion for you to know that John Mahama is never equal to Nana Addo and neither is the NDC party comparable to the NPP is anyway…,” he said.

He also alleged that the NDC did not win the 2012 election and that explains the government’s abysmal performance.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to vote the NDC out so NPP will take up the mantle and help develop the country.
