Virgin prophets to pray for Mahama’s defeat ‘’Mahama 48% and 51% Nana Akufo-Addo of the total votes cast” he declared.

A group of prophets claiming to be virgins have vowed to pray ceaselessly for the 'gargantuan' defeat of President John Mahama in the December 7 general elections.


The group under the umbrella name Association of 10 Virgin Prophets had predicted a one touch victory for the President but said it will pray to petition God to overturn that election results.


The threat follows the remission of sentence to three persons sympathetic to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) jailed for contempt.


Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and Salifu Maase threatened to kill Supreme Court Judges and rape the Chief Justice if the judgement of a case about the voter's register did not favour the Electoral Commission.


They were found guilty of scandalizing the court and fined 10,000 cedis and handed four months jail term each by the Supreme Court on July 27.


The punishment which some Ghanaians hailed the court for was also condemned by some section of the public who were predominantly members of the NDC.


A pro-NDC group launched a free Montie Movement and signed by some Ministers of State and stalwarts of the governing NDC to compel the President to exercise his discretionary powers under Article 72 of the constitution in releasing the three.


The President broke his silence on Monday August 22, 2016 the matter by reducing the four-month prison sentence to one on Monday, August 22.


A statement signed by Communications Minister Dr. Omane Boamah, said the “compassionate” decision was taken on the advice of the Council of State.


But on leader of the group, Osomafo Job Antwi in an interview on Adom Evening News said, the release of the Montie trio could plunge Ghana into chaos.


“President Mahama has really shocked us; releasing these people who threatened to kill judges is a recipe for disaster” he fumed.


Osomafo Antwi stated that, he together with other nine virgin prophets would be heading to the Atwea Mountains in the Eastern region and engaged in dry fasting and prayers against the re-election of President Mahama.


“We will pray for pray for a one touch victory for Nana Akufo-Addo; President Mahama must not be retained. He will get only 48 percent and Nana Akufo-Addo will get 51 percent of the total votes cast” he declared.
