suspects including two police officers who were arrested in connection a robbery attack of a GCB Bank bullion van have escaped.
According to latest reports received by ultimatefmonline.com, the three suspects under the guise of visiting the washroom at Nkawkaw while being transferred to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, runaway and their whereabouts currently unknown.
All three were arrested on Tuesday for various roles they played in the alleged robbery attack of a bullion van belonging to the GCB Bank in the region a day earlier.
The identities of the two police involved are still unknown, but Superintendent Obeng Dompreh Isaac Police Commander in-charge of Kwahu Afram Plains South Police District, said they were being transported to the regional capital for further action.
It would be recalled that a GCB Bank bullion van with registration number GN 1354-15 was shot at by robbers at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.
The robbers were reported to have used an opel caravan taxi driver with registration number GR 7860-09 in trailing the van before shooting at their target.
This resulted in gunfire exchanges between the policeman onboard the van and the robbers leading to the death of the bullion van driver, David Sarpong, whose body is currently at the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.
