The founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has disclosed that he will not contest for the presidency again if Ghanaians fail to give him the nod at this year’s polls.
In an interview on Citi FM Monday morning, two days after he was acclaimed as the 2016 presidential candidate of the PPP at a national convention in Accra, Dr Nduom described the 2016 elections as the “final round.”
According to him, if his message of job creation was not enough to convince the electorate to vote for him on his third attempt, he will take a step back from active politics and focus on his political party and businesses.
Dr Nduom contested on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in 2008 and on that of the PPP in 2012.
He left the CPP to form the PPP ahead of the 2012 elections as a result of leadership disagreements.
In the Citi FM interview, he said, “The 2016 elections will be the last round, it will be the final time for Ghanaians to vote for me. If I don’t win, I won’t contest the presidency again”.
