Paintsil slapped with GhC 5000 fine for police assault

Ghanaian international John Paintsil has been slapped with a Ghc5000 fine for allegedly assaulting the District Commander of East Legon Police station, Deputy Superintendent Emmanuel Basintale.

He was accused of punching the policeman on the right eye, while he was been interrogated for allegedly stealing his wife's car.

Paintsil was charged with causing assault on a public officer, causing harm and threat to cause harm.

The ex-Fullham star, who appeared before the circuit Court in Accra today, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Paintsil was then given a 5000 Ghc fine with a surety, and expected to reappear before court on the 14 and 15 of July, 2016 respectively.
