Some members of the Church of Pentecost have expressed disappointment in the donation of some 300 copies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ‘Green Book’ to its general council.
According to the aggrieved members, the donation will generate unnecessary political debate among the rank and file of the church nationwide.
Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur who was the special guest of honour at the church’s 42nd general council meeting at Gomoa Fette in the Central region donated the Green Book to the church which contains achievements of the NDC since it assumed the governance of the state.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur, who handed the specially branded book to the leadership of the church urged them to distribute it to its members to enable them appreciate the unprecedented achievements of the Mahama-led administration.
But some of the members in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the donation will create a lot of problems for the church.
“Vice president has done us a great disservice; we have members belonging to all political parties in Pentecost so the donation of the Green Book will send a wrong signal” a member fumed.
What is even worrying, the Pentecost member stressed, is the ‘political football’ the donation will be subjected to in the media.
Others also said, when they saw the beautiful parcels, they thought it was Holy Bibles only to realise it was the much-touted Green Book.
“I'm really shocked at the donation by vice president; when I saw it, I even thought it was bibles so I was even rushing for one” another church member stated.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the church who accepted the gift has refused to comment on the issue.
