The Communication Director of the Ketu South branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peterson Midadze, has said his outfit was on high alert for the ritual trans-border voter registration, adding that party members chased Togolese voters out during the just ended limited registration exercise.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Atinkaonline, the director noted that they [NPP members in the constituency] chased people they suspected to be non-Ghanaians who wanted to take part in the exercise to give the ruling NDC undue advantage over the NPP.
“We knew the NDC supporters who went into Togo to bring the voters in large buses to register and we chased them out. They would move from one polling station to the other but because we were much aware of their activities, we did whatever we could and chased them out,” he said.
“Just as we Ghanaians cannot go to Togo and register and take part in their elections, it’s the same way they also cannot take part in ours,” Midadze added.
The NPP guru mentioned that the main border towns where they operated were mainly Vudogba, Kpoglo, Amedzikofe into Klikor and Agbozume.
He also revealed that the Ketu South NDC has embarked on a project dubbed, “project 120, 000” which will seek to procure 120,000 votes for Mahama fraudulently in the Nov polls.
"We already have 88,000 voters in the constituency so they now want to obtain 40,000 to make it 120,000.00. This only tells how desperate the Mahama-led NDC is to cling onto political power but this time around we are ready for the NDC. We will use all legal means to stop them,” Midadze charged.
The chartered accountant went further to explain that the acquisition of the voters’ ID by foreigners also put a drain on the economy since some of these foreigners go ahead to acquire Ghanaian passports and NHIS cards and share the limited resources and facilities meant for the people of Ketu South. “I'm quite surprised that our Member of Parliament (MP) Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey who claims to be an economist and a Minister of state appears to be ignorant of this.”
He rated President Mahama –led NDC as being ridden with lies and woefully incompetent. “I think the people of the Ketu South are waking up to the fact that Mahama and the ruling NDC have nothing to offer them and the whole Volta Region for that matter. "They promised us one of the E-schools but six months after the sod-cutting, nothing has happened," he revealed.
