BREAKING NEWS: KINTAMPO POLICE ARRESTED 50 - YEARS- OLD MAN WITH AMMUNITIONS




The Police at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region on Friday intercepted a bus loaded with 32 boxes of ammunition en route to Bunkprugu in the Northern Region.




Soodoin Konlan 50 years have been arrested by Kintampo Police for possessing ammunitions.




Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer narrated the incident to Ghnews360.com said the Kintampo Police had a tip off, that a mini Tata bus with registration number UE 1162 C, loaded with some quantity of ammunitions from Kumasi enroute to Bunpurugu in the Northern Region.




This he said the Police Highway Patrol team at Kintampo-Tamale road mounted a blockade at the outskirts and intercepted the said vehicle.




According to ASP Tawiah when a search was conducted on the vehicle it revealed four boxes which contained Eight Hunderd pieces of AAA ammunitions.




“The driver, Konlan Kambele and the care taker Suuk Kombart when question about their missions they could not immediately identify the owner and were therefore arrested and detained to assist in investigations whilst the exhibits were retained for evidential values”.




ASP Tawiah stated that subsequent investigations revealed Soodoin Konlan aged 50 years a farmer and resident at Mambarug near Bunkpurugu as the owner of the ammunitions and was arrested.





He said during interrogations at the Police Station ,suspect Soodoin Konlan admitted ownership of the ammunitions and indicated that,he was transporting such cartridges to the town to sell on retail basis though he is not licensed to do so.




ASP Christopher Tawiah said investigations are still underway but the suspect will be arraigned before court as soon as practicable.
